Who We Are
Jesus Christ is the first step on your faith journey. Entering into a relationship with Him enables you to take your next steps with God.
The Bible tells us that Jesus is God incarnate; He is God the Son, eternally one with God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. He alone can forgive our sins and give salvation.
While many people profess to admiring JESUS, there are a lot of differing opinions about who HE was. Some say HE was a good teacher. Others say a prophet. And to some, HE’s just a good man. What’s intriguing is that this very same thing happened in JESUS’ day. People had plenty of differing opinions about who HE was, and often it led to more confusion than answers.
What’s interesting is that JESUS really didn’t leave room for that.
While HE was most certainly a man of flesh and blood, HE also claimed to be the SON of GOD, on a unique, GOD-initiated mission to rescue the world from spiritual darkness. As HE explained it, HE was GOD in human form, not only showing us how to live the life each of us was created to live, but through a perfect life and selfless death, setting us free from our love of self and the rebelling against GOD that comes with it.
The outcome? Restoration. Repair. Renewal. A life that’s reconnected to GOD. A life that is free to embrace our original design. And a life of harmony with GOD – what the Jewish people (JESUS’ people) called “shalom.” Or, peace.
Sound crazy? It does to us too.
But don’t take our word for it. Simply take a look at some of what JESUS said and did, above.
Here are seven declarations and actions of Jesus that show us who he believed he was and is:
1. Jesus said He was God
2. Jesus said He came from heaven, God's eternal dwelling place
3. Jesus said He was sinless, as God alone is without sin
4. Jesus forgave sin
Luke 7:48, 49
5. Jesus said He was the only way to heaven
6. Jesus accepted worship as God
7. Jesus performed miracles including raising others and himself from the dead
Luke 8:49-50, 52-55
John 11:43, 44
