DEACONS
At New Bethel, our definition of a deacon closely follows suit with the generally accepted guidelines among all Southern Baptist churches. A deacon is a married (or widowed) man that holds good standing within the church and maintains a strong spiritual daily walk.
The role of a deacon is mainly to be a support system for the pastor. Deacons are responsible for filling in where the pastor may need assistance, being available for the congregation to come to with any and all matters that may need attention, whether the deacons address it directly or pass the information on to the pastor, and to be willing to assist church members in many matters: spiritual, mental, physical or otherwise.
Deacons lead the church through Godly service.
